By Subway
To reach the museum by subway, take the 4, 5, or 6 train to 86th Street. Walk west on 86th Street, turn right at 5th Avenue and proceed north to 88th Street. View map

By Bus
To reach the museum by bus, take the M1, M2, M3, or M4 bus on Madison or Fifth Avenue.

By Car from New Jersey - GWB
To reach the museum via the George Washington Bridge: take I-80 East or I-95 North across the George Washington Bridge Upper Level. Stay in the right lane leaving the bridge to " 9A/Henry Hudson Parkway SOUTH." Take the H.H. Parkway South to "EXIT 95/96th Street" ( the 96th st.exit is closed permanently). Stay in the left lane of the exit ramp and drive straight across West 95th Street to Central Park West. Turn left on CPW and the first right into the 96th Street traverse through Central Park to 5th Avenue. Make a right at 5Th Ave and drive down to 89th Street. The Museum is on your left between 89th and 88th Street.

By Car from New Jersey - Linclon Tunnel
Approaching the tunnel on I 495 East, merge to the left on the helix and take the left most tube inbound. Once through the tunnel, bear left and turn left on West 42nd Street. Take the first right onto 10th Avenue northbound, continue uptown on 10th Ave. (10th Ave namechanges to Amsterdam) to West 96th Street. Turn right on W 96th St. and go through Central Park to 5th Ave. Turn right on 5th. Ave. Proceed down 7 blocks to East 89th St. The Museum is on your left between 88th and 89th Streets.

Or take the Lincoln Tunnel to enter Midtown Manhattan at west 40th Street. Take the RT-3 exit and merge onto I-495 east. Take the exit (on left) toward 40th Street and North/West Side Highway. Continue southeast on 40th Street. Turn left at Park Avenue. Turn left at east 89th Street. Turn left at 5th Avenue.

By Car from Connecticut
Take I-95 to I-278 West/Bruckner EXPW exit. Merge onto Bruckner Expressway. Take the I-278 West exit (on left) toward Triboro BR/FDR Drive/Grand Central Parkway. Merge onto I-278 West. Exit toward Manhattan/Randalls-Wards/Downing Stadium. Merge onto Triboro Bridge. Take the FDR Drive ramp and merge onto FDR Drive south. Take southbound/downtown FDR Drive to 96th Street exit and drive west to Fifth Avenue. Turn left at 5th Avenue. Follow 5th Avenue to 89th Street.

By Car from Upstate New York
Take the I-87 to the Triboro Bridge. Take the FDR Drive ramp and merge onto FDR Drive south. Exit/merge onto FDR Drive. Turn right onto east 96th Street. Turn left at 5th Avenue. Follow 5th Avenue to 89th Street.

Or take Palisades Parkway South to the George Washington Bridge upper level into Manhattan. (E-Z pass only at night) Stay in the right lane across the bridge and take the first Exit, Follow signs for the "Henry Hudson Parkway South 9A" . Take the H.H.parkway south to "EXIT 95/96th Street"- (96th St.exit is closed permanently) Stay in the left lane of the exit ramp and drive straight across West 95th Street to Central Park West- turn left on CPW and then right into the 96th Street traverse through Central Park to 5th Avenue- Make a right at 5Th Ave and drive down to 89th Street. The Museum is on your left between 89th and 88th Street.

By Car from Long Island
Take I-495 to the Midtown Tunnel. Once trough the tunnel, Turn right at Madison Avenue. Follow Madison north to 89th Street. Turn left at 89th Street. Follow 89th Street to 5th Avenue.

Or take the Queens-Midtown Tunnel to East 34th Street. Turn left/east onto East 34th Street. Turn left/north onto FDR DR Service Road E. Merge onto FDR DR N. Take the East 96 Street exit- EXIT 14. Turn left onto East 96 Street. Turn left onto Fifth Avenue. Follow Fifth Avenue south to 89th Street.

Parking
Parking garages are within walking distance from the museum. Impark Parking located at 40 East 89th Street (between Madison and Park Avenues). Sylvan Parking is located at 60 East 90th Street (between Madison and Park Avenues). Both lots offer a discounted rate to museum visitors.
